BSRC Hosts 'We Help For Your Hope' Season II on World Cancer Day

Dr. Nongluk Chawankul, Business Enablement Manager of Bangchak Sriracha Public Company Limited (BSRC), joined a panel discussion and inaugurated the 'We Help For Your Hope' Season II event in collaboration with Dr. Ballung Nueangsang, Director of the Institute of Marine Science at Burapha University, and Mr. Korakot Wichianthiap, a representative from Chonburi Cancer Hospital. The event took place at the Bangsaen Underwater World Learning Center.
Every year, February 4th is recognized as ‘World Cancer Day’ by the World Health Organization and the Union for International Cancer Control, emphasizing global efforts to combat cancer and reduce mortality rates. The 'We Help For Your Hope' initiative focuses on the use of animal-assisted therapy to enhance the quality of life for cancer patients in the Eastern region. BSRC volunteers help support cancer patients undergoing treatment, as well as vulnerable community members, by offering them visits to the Marine Science Museum. These experiences aim to boost morale and mental well-being, as interacting with marine life has been shown to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Animal-assisted therapy is recognized as an alternative treatment approach, helping to relieve stress, reduce muscle tension, and lower cortisol levels in the blood. These effects contribute to improved comfort and well-being for cancer patients, positively impacting their treatment journey.
A 2024 study conducted by Chonburi Cancer Hospital involving 20 patients who participated in the program showed significant benefits. Post-activity assessments indicated high overall quality of life scores, increased satisfaction levels, and reduced stress and pain levels. The study highlights the substantial mental health benefits provided by this initiative.
BSRC acknowledges the importance of public health and well-being, fostering volunteer engagement among employees, and integrating partnerships with key stakeholders. The company remains committed to organizing meaningful initiatives that address societal needs and promote sustainable community development.
