Bangchak Sriracha Refinery to Start Produce Low Sulfur Fuel in Accordance with Euro 5 Standard from 1 December
Bangchak Sriracha Refinery has commenced the production of low-sulfur fuel in accordance with Euro 5 standards, effective from 1 December 2023. This initiative is aimed at contributing to the alleviation of air pollution issues, particularly stemming from fine particulate matter, or PM 2.5. Gasoline will undergo adjustments to reduce the sulfur content to below 10 parts per million (ppm), resulting in a significant reduction of fine particulate matter in the air. Simultaneously, diesel will experience a reduction in sulfur content to less than 10 ppm, accompanied by quality improvements. This comprehensive approach serves to mitigate the release of hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter resulting from engine combustion, thus reducing environmental pollution in the long term.
Bangchak Sriracha Refinery, a Complex Refinery, underwent equipment installation and integration in September 2023 to elevate product quality to meet Euro 5 standards. The adoption of Polyshift™ technology in the refining process has played a pivotal role in managing lower levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), further diminishing hydrocarbon emissions from engine combustion, sulfur oxide, and nitrogen released into the atmosphere. This initiative not only aids in reducing environmental pollution from burning engines but also contributes to lowering sulfur content, reducing nitrogen oxide emissions, and decreasing particulate matter, specifically PM 2.5, which represents an overall positive impact on the environment.
